Infrastructure Support Analyst – 3rd Line Support

Holborn, London

£289.25 per day

3 Month contract


Shift patterns 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, 9:00 am – 17:00 pm or 10:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday to Friday. There will be a requirement to do overtime outside core hours and at weekends for system maintenance.

Job Overview:

  • The Infrastructure Support Analyst will Manage, support, report on, and document the current infrastructure. This role will provide hands-on 3rd line operational support for Capita’s IT systems This role will be responsible for ensuring that performance meets the contracted SLA’s.
  • This role will be primarily own and have responsibility of managing infrastructure incidents and requests through to resolution. Work closely with Capita Central teams (including networking, DB and Application management teams) to resolve incidents and fulfil requests as required
  • Manage internal and external 3rd party support parties through to resolution and within SLA’s

Main tasks

  • 3rdline support Microsoft products including Exchange 2010/ IIS/ ISA/ DNS/ DHCP/ AD/ SQL/ SharePoint, ensuring full system availability.
  • 3rd line Exchange 2010 troubleshooting
  • Build, Configure, Administer, Monitor and support of all servers and infrastructure applications to agreed policies and SLA’s
  • Monitoring of all servers and infrastructure applications. Setup and manage availability and capacity via Solar Winds and other specialist tools
  • Configuration and support of Active Directory services, Group Policies, as well as anti-virus and web servers.
  • Support and maintain the vSphere 5 DRS clusters and stand-alone ESXi servers.
  • Manage Major and significant outages as per Major incident process – Provide incident reports and root cause to the service delivery manager
  • With the support of Netapp (3rdparty)
  • Manage, Support and monitoring of all Storage systems and backups
  • Manage, support and monitoring of all backups using NetApp Data Protection Manager
  • Design, support and maintenance of the NetApp filers based in multiple locations including SAN replication for the purpose of normal operations and disaster recovery /business continuity
  • With the support of Capita central teams
  • Maintain, configure and support the Cisco switches, firewall and routers for the LAN and WAN (6 UK regional sites)
  • Proactive and Reactive monitoring using Solarwinds
  • Liaising with the Service delivery team for second line, architectural support and escalation to vendors
  • Raising problem records and resolving to root cause as required.
  • Managing and administering the change management tool and follow the change process
  • Infrastructure asset tracking and reporting
  • Test Disaster Recovery processes and solutions on an annual basis
  • Support and Maintain the Juniper SSL VPN devices
  • Maintain the Lumension device control software

Essential Technical Skills

In Dept Knowledge of:

  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft Back Office products
  • MCSE 2003 qualified or relevant experience
  • Extensive experience of Microsoft Active Directory 2003/2008
  • Extensive experience of Exchange 2010
  • Experience of Windows 2003/2008 Server and supporting technologies such as DNS,DHCP
  • Virtualisation Technologies in particular Vmware vSphere
  • Experience in ISA, Proxy
  • Significant relevant work experience in a similar role
  • An understanding of firewalls and firewall technologies.
  • An understanding of Security in a secure environment
  • Software deployment tools, in particular SCCM/WSUS, creating deployment packages for MS security patches, service packs, and OS updates/upgrades et.

Desirable Requirements

  • Blackberry BES
  • An understanding of LAN / WAN technologies.
  • Exposure to PowerShell
  • Knowledge of infrastructure standards (e.g. ISO)
  • Experience of working in a professional services environment
  • CCNA or equivalent experience
  • SharePoint
  • MS Lync
