The Project Manager is fully accountable the delivery of the products required and ensuring they are produced to the standard of quality expected, within the specified constraints of time, quality and cost.
They are fully responsible for the successful delivery of a complex project or multiple projects, ensuring the appropriate level of governance is followed. Will be required to mentor other Project personnel.
During the course of the role you will be expected to do the following:
Review of management processes (and decisions) to ensure that they are compliant with the organisation’s strategy for corporate information governance.
Has detailed knowledge of the relevant international standards, and the principles embedded within them.
Maintains awareness of good practice frameworks, within the sphere of Business and IT, including capability and maturity models, and standards.
Ensures that realistic project, quality, and risk plans are prepared and maintained for projects and sub-projects. Monitors and controls team performance against plans. Maintains effective financial and project progress forecasting, and reports as appropriate.
Leads one or more project teams; allocating and monitoring tasks, motivating staff and appraising individual performance.
Defines and makes recommendations on the project management framework for own projects, including creation and composition of the steering group or project board, identification of project sponsor and stakeholders.
Has wide and detailed IT knowledge, together with detailed understanding of the principles of business and markets and sound experience of relevant business sectors. Knows how to make and sustain a business case through effective benefits management, and demonstrates the ability to make, and take responsibility for, adventurous and innovative decisions on major technical and service delivery issues. Has strong planning, communication and presentation skills, the capability to listen and influence, and is proficient in project quality management.
Proven and demonstrable experience of project delivery in a similar (IT) environment.
Practitioner certificate in PRINCE2 or equivalent project management qualification.
Has extensive experience of owning P&L, Cost tracks etc.
Methods and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects. Examples: product/work breakdown structures, baselining, critical path analysis, earned value, resource analysis, conflict resolution.
The effective and efficient deployment of resources, including reassessment and reallocation in a dynamic multi-project environment, to achieve optimum efficiency
The identification, assessment and management of project risks, which could result in time or cost over-runs, or failure to deliver products which are fit for purpose.
Driven, autonomous and capable of working within a matrix managed structure on multiple projects.
