Desktop Support Engineer Job
Capita, FTSE 100 and leading business process outsourcer, is now seeking a desktop support engineer to join their team in Stanmore, London to provide desktop support.
There are a number of projects that the role will be supporting including Windows 7 upgrade for 120 base users in Stanmore. This will form a key part of the role assisting Infrastructure support and the IT Operations manager in the delivery of these types of projects.
This is a great oppotunity for progression and development. Training can be provided so applicants from all levels of desktop support are welcome! Great for 1st line desktop support engineers that are now ready to move into 2nd line.
Key Objectives includes:
*Provision of high quality Desktop, Windows Server support services to office based users and remote users relating to hardware and software issue. .
*Proactive contribution to Service Improvement initiatives.
*To meet or exceed all agreed service targets and KPIS.
*Carry out all agreed Service Improvement actions or Project actions as per the work package description or within the project plan timescales.
*Work effectively with other resolving agents locally and within IT Services as a whole.
*Adherence to the service delivery model in place.
*Effective and efficient Remedy call handling.
*Accurate, complete, and informative Remedy call updating. Knowledge of ITIL Service Delivery practices or ITIL certification.
*Effective call resolution.
*Effective working relations with Service Centre and other resolver groups.
*Timely and effective problem resolution and fault diagnosis.
*Hardware and software upgrades.
*Ensure that timesheets and expenses are completed within SAP in a timely fashion.
*Provide out of hours support as agreed.
*Carry out project tasks as agreed.
*Maintain accurate and complete documentation.
*Maintain accurate and complete asset register information (hardware & Software).
*Adherence to Change Control processes and procedures.
*Adherence to all agreed quality processes and procedures.
*Arrange for the repair of computer hardware in accordance with the terms of the vendors warranty and to ensure replacements are obtained.
*Installation and configuration of desktop hardware and peripherals.
*To co-ordinate the delivery, configuration and installation of new hardware and software.
*Action requests for loan equipment and audio-visual setups. To deliver, setup and assist user with equipment.
*Provide assistance on the use of IT hardware and software.
*Relocation and reconfiguring of hardware and peripherals including AVAYA handsets.
*Installation and patching of new voice and data sockets.

*Proven experience in desktop support.
*Good technical knowledge of MS products, operating systems, and applications.
*Basic LAN / WAN support experience.
*Active Directory & Domain administration.
*Knowledge of McAfee products.
*Hardware & software installation experience.
*Good fault diagnosis skills.
*Ideally knowledge of Windows Server 2008 and/or Telephony.
*Analytical approach to problem resolution.
*Good team player.
*Ability to work under pressure.
*Willingness to take ownership of problems / issues until resolved.
*Ability to multitask.
*Excellent interpersonal skills and customer focus.
*Willingness to work extended hours as and when required.
*Good Time management skills.
*Effective communication skills.
*Excellent time keeping.
* Willing to undergo security checks if successful
