Job Description:

Lloyd’s Register provides independent assurance and expert advice to companies operating high-risk assets in the energy, transportation and marine sectors. Due to continued growth we are seeking a Business Anaylst

The Business Analyst role is a key component of the project team throughout the lifecycle from concept through feasibility, analysis, design, development, testing and transition, to in service exploitation and benefits realisation.
The role of the Business Analyst is to analyse, document and manage requirements for lines of business, to support project management and to prepare specifications used in product selection, design and development. This includes acting as the main point of contact with the business, resolving questions and queries regarding specifications, leading the preparation of user and system test plans and being the main contact throughout the transition into operations to ensure smooth transition.

Duties will include:

A. Documenting and analysing business processes and information needs of the business and users, using standard process and information modelling techniques.
B. Producing business cases and assessments of options for proposed investments.
C. Documenting and identifying IS enabled business changes and expected benefits.
D. Collecting business requirements and translating these into functional specification, using standard methods and techniques.
E. To prioritise requirements with Stakeholders and manage their realisation by selected and developed solutions.
F. Collaborating with the business sponsor to design organisation and processes, manage benefits realisation and business dependencies.
G. Providing the link between the business users, developers and third parties throughout the development lifecycle and assist in the resolution of any queries regarding specifications
H. Leading the design and execution of test scripts and scenarios a nd facilitate the resolution of identified issues to the satisfaction of business users
I. Assisting in the enforcement of project milestones and committed time-scales
J. Supporting the project management in developing plans and project strategies, and operating project governance processes such as risk and opportunity management, issue management and change control.
K. Working closely with Transition Manager to ensure smooth transition of the solution into operations.
L. Providing information system support to Business Systems Designer during software selection process.
M. Assisting the project manager with selection and management of suppliers.
N. Being an effective ambassador of Group IS and ensure the ‘team player ethos’ and high integrity to ensure the LR Group succeeds.
O. Ensuring that managers and stakeholders are kept informed about all relevant issues.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified or Membership of a recognised Professional Body.
  • Experience of documenting and analysing complex business processes and demonstrable experience in use of formal methods and techniques.
  • Demonstrable experience in full lifecycle projects and IS development.
  • Proven track record of working and liaising effectively with business users and managers.
  • Results-oriented and customer-focused, able to interact and communicate at all levels.
  • Good commercial acumen able to understand and appreciate the impact of design decisions on the operating models of the business and IT. 
  • Effective team player and able to be an ambassador of Group IS in all interactions both externally and internally.
