Implementation Consultant/Project Manager – Software Integration & Configuration
To £60K depending on experience London
An exciting new role in a US technology company now expanding internationally. Their state of the art open, cloud based system has, from launch in 2011, established an international base of 900 customers in the education sector. The challenge in this role is to manage implementation projects smoothly, integrate the system with a range of third party products and tools and ensure that new users quickly become enthusiastic adopters. Candidates should have managed software implementation projects with the emphasis on integration and configuration and will be comfortable in client facing situations where priorities can change fast.
Instructure is a young and vibrant US technology company specialising in the Education sector. Their flag bearing system is Canvas, an open cloud based virtual learning environment developed using state of the art technology and cutting edge tools. This has created an intuitive and easy to use environment that has been enthusiastically adopted by both teachers and students. Since launch in 2011, Canvas has grown its client base to over 900 universities, colleges and schools with a user community of more than 12 million. There are now 400 employees in an organisation where the working environment is relaxed, open and collaborative with great opportunities for career development. Staff have a genuine passion for both education and technology and are described as “taking their work seriously but not themselves”. To date, most of the activity has been in the US where outstanding progress has been made in both the Higher Education and Schools sectors. Internationally, some inroads have already been made into the UK Education market and the company is totally committed to mirroring the rapid rate of growth achieved in the US. The Implementation Consultant/Project Manager will play an important part in making this happen by ensuring that new clients are set up smoothly and efficiently and become active and committed users.
The Implementation Consultant/Project Manager will be part of the Customer Success team and report to a UK based Regional Manager with good access to technical and development resources in the US. Typically, several projects run simultaneously and will have a target duration of 90 days although this depends on the implementation package chosen. In that time regular project meetings take place some on client sites. A project plan is established from the outset and the Consultant provides assistance as required to set up the necessary branding, authentication and security procedures as well as integration with third party products and tools including student information systems. The implementation plan will also incorporate the import of course material, training of users and promotion of the benefits of using the system. This position requires someone who can combine an understanding of the Canvas software with the requirements of the customer and a passion about meeting their needs. Some analysis and design work within the Instructure methodology will be required but it should be stressed that this is a implementation/integration environment and is not about development. The job holder will ensure that project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately–yes, we know this can be painful, but it’s very important! Managing expectations with clients and internal resources is also essential and everyone including clients should know what they need to work on and when it’s required. Speedy recognition and resolution of issues and conflicts is vital as is a communication plan that keeps all involved project participants updated. The role is based in the fast growing London office with periodic travel to client sites.
